You are beautiful
Written by Dixie Roberts - May 9, 2016
Hey, It's Dixie Roberts, and today is Korean Drama Day!! Well, I've started watching a Korean Drama called "You Are Beautiful" it's about a girl, Go Mi Nyu (which means handsome/beautiful lady), posing as her twin brother, Go Mi Nam (which means handsome/beautiful man), because Go Mi Nam had to get surgery . Go Mi Nam was chosen to be in a boy band called A. N. Jell, but he had to go to America to get surgery and his dream was to become a famous singer and hopefully meet his mom. When Go Mi Nam and his sister were younger their mom "left" them and their dad died, Go Mi Nam wants to meet his mom. The manager for A. N. Jell tried really hard to get Go Mi Nyu to sub in for her brother just for one month. She refused strongly at first, but then she remembered his dream and decided to do it. Go Mi Nyu wanted to become a nun, the weekend he needed her to pretend to be her brother she was supposed to go to Rome to become a nun. She ran into the members of A. N. Jell on her way to leave and tried to hide from them because they had already met once before, but when they met she was Go Mi Nam. She ran into Tae Kyung (the vocalist), Shin Woo (the guitarist), and Jeremy (the drummer). Tae Kyung is the mean, cold guy, Shin Woo is the nice guy, and Jeremy is the childish guy. I really recommend this show for anyone, because it's a really good show and if you're bad at letting out your emotions this show may or may not make you cry, it's sad, but if anyone wants to watch it be warned you will always have to read subtitles. |
Photoshoots and model mayhem
Written by: Emilee Smarr - May 9, 2016
Over the weekend, I traveled to Cornelius, North Carolina for a photoshoot with my modeling agent and photographer, Nhan Tran. A current resident of California, but a true southerner, Nhan came back to shoot with some of his Carolina girls. Of course I had to see the man who sparked my modeling journey, so we planned to shoot on Sunday morning at Jetton Park on Lake Norman. After leaving the small town of Great Falls at 8:00am, I was ready for the long, exciting day ahead of me. We arrived at Jetton Park at around 9:30am, and from there we shot six looks non-stop. Because I never got any professional prom pictures done, the first outfit we shot in was my prom dress. The second look consisted of a coral Sherri Hill dress which fit perfectly with the beach-lake scenery. And of course where there's a beach or lake, there's a swimsuit or two…or three; trying to promote Eclipse Model & Talent Agency for the summer, we spent a good amount of time shooting in the sand and water. For the last look, we stayed in the water, but it wasn't in a swimsuit. I took an old bridesmaid dress, and basically trashed the dress. After finishing at around 12:45pm, we looked back at the camera to see that we got some great, unique shots! I couldn't be more happy with the results! I already had a passion for modeling, but this weekend my passion grew even more. Since starting in the fashion industry just last summer, I've already done so much, especially for such a young age. Nhan couldn't quit saying how I was growing up on camera right before his eyes, not just as a model, but as a young woman. Modeling has boosted my confidence levels to a height that I never thought they could reach, and it's also made me have a really positive body image, something that can be hard to have as a teenage girl. With all of the exciting things I've already done and things that have yet to come, I look forward to continuing my journey so I can experience everything the world of fashion has to offer. |
True Friendship
Written by: Hannah McCormick - May 9, 2016
Friendship is the most important thing to me, along with trust. A true friend will always be by your side, through thick and thin. No matter how hard life gets, a true friend will never leave you hanging. I have a best friend, Alissia Blackmon. We've been best friends for thirteen years now. Of course we fought a lot, but we always got over it and never held grudges. We know each other better than anyone. At first we actually couldn't stand each other, but then we became best friends over a bug, literally. Over the years we got older, but never grew apart. We are always sarcastic and immature around each other. There's not a single moment I'm not smiling when I'm around my best friend. Never a dull moment. I wouldn't trade my best friend for anything in the world. Not riches, fame or glory. Nothing will take me away from my best friend. Except death, but even then I plan on annoying her to death as a spirit. I love her to death, and I am so lucky to have such a great friend in my life. She's always there for me whenever I need her. Whenever I'm sad or mad, she always seems to cheer me up. Thank you for always being there for me. |
One Direction Infection
Blog by: Geni Camp - May 2, 2016
One Direction was formed in 2010. There were five members, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles. In March of 2015, Zayn Malik announced his departure from the band. The group signed with Simon Cowell's record label, SYCO Records, after forming and finishing third in the seventh season of the X Factor.
Lifted to international success, One Direction produced four albums together, and one album without member, Zayn Malik. One Direction's four albums, Take Me Home, Up All Night, Midnight Memories, and Four topped charts and generated hit single such as "What Makes You Beautiful," "Live While We're Young," and "Story of my Life." Their fifth studio album Made in the A.M. was released in November 2015.
Their achievements include 6 BRIT Awards, 4 MTV Music Awards, 11 MTV Europe Music Awards, 7 AMA's, and 19 Teen Choice Awards. According to Sony Entertainment UK, One Direction represented a 50 million dollar empire by June 2012. In 2015, Forbes listen them at the 4th highest earning celebrities in the world. After the release of Four, One Direction became the first band in the U.S. Billboard 200 history to have their first four albums debut at number one. They were named artist of the year by Billboard in 2014. The band began a hiatus in early 2016 that will last for a year before the boys begin creating new music.
I have loved One Direction since they were first formed, along with many other "Directioners" (A name for the fans). I have watched the boys grow up and mature as artists. They have changed physically, mentally, and emotionally. Their music has better meaning and they can better relate to the music since they have become more involved in the songwriting process.
The boys have played a huge part in my life, along with many other teenagers worldwide. In the beginning of their X Factor days, they did many video diaries in which they sat on a staircase and answered questions and talked to the fans. We use the phrase "from the staircase to the stadiums" to describe just how famous "our" boys have gotten. They all came from small towns in which no one knew about them until their rise to fame. Now, their countries and towns have much more appreciation.
There has been talk of the boys not coming back together after the break is over, but no matter what, we'll still be there. The boys continue to make music and support charities, along with starting ones of their own, even though they're not together at the moment. We will continue to love and support our boys unconditionally, and will continue to do so no matter what they decide to do in the end.

Dirt Trackin'
Blog by: Kayla Pettit - May 2, 2016
Race season started about a month ago at Lancaster Speedway and many other tracks. It has been full of excitement for the fans, pit crews, drivers, and even track officials. Racing isn't all fun and games, it's stressful and a lot of work! Since my car has been broken I've gotten the chance to go around and talk to many different drivers at Lancaster Speedway.
James Marion, the driver of the 75 car in the Renegade division, won the first race and his luck has gone down from then. He ended up blowing his motor a couple weekends ago and has had to sit out while still trying to compete in points. He still comes to the race to support his local dirt track and cheer on his competition.
Destiny Smith, the driver of the 16D car in Extreme four class, has had nothing but bad luck this season. Her first race went well and then a bad luck streak hit. During the next race, her car started acting funny and wouldn’t run right so she had to pull in.
Rick, her uncle, and Billy, her dad, took her car apart to try and figure out what was wrong and it turned out to be her head. They got it fixed and she went back out there the next weekend to keep her points, but her car messed up again. They ended up selling her four cylinder car and they bought her a Renegade car which will be ready in about a month or so.

A new hot, girl group
Blog by: Matthew Trent - May 2, 2016
Meet new girl group: Fifth Harmony. Fifth Harmony consists of Camila Cabello, Dinah-Jane Hansen, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke Hernandez, and Normani Kordei.
This girl group caught my eye not just because of their beauty, but also because of their uniqueness and vocal talent. Fifth Harmony was formed after auditioning solo and later eliminated on the US version of The X-Factor. This group has already established a name for themselves in the music industry by becoming the first female group to score a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Some of my favorite songs by this girl group are their top ten hit, Work From Home, and Worth It. You might have heard these songs on the radio lately. From performing for 60,000 people in the UK at the Summertime Ball to performing for President, Barack Obama. You will be seeing more of these girls in the near future with their sophomore album, 7/27, coming May 27th. |
