Written By: Camryn Patterson, Photos and Editing By: Breanna Hunter
Do you have a favorite summer treat? Snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn, maybe even an all-time favorite, pizza? The Devils Daily reporters went around to find out the favorite treats of GFHS.
Mr. Bennett, 9th grade algebra teacher, said, "I love grilling- steak, fish, or pizza. My favorite ice-cream is butter pecan. I've eaten it since I was a kid, my mom got me hooked on it."
Haley Albert, 10th grader, lets us know about her all-time favorites, "My favorite thing to eat is watermelon and pineapples because they tingle my taste buds."
"My favorite ice-cream has to be moose track. It's delicious," commented Kerrigan Mullis, 11th grader.
Everyone has their own favorite foods and treats for the summer, what's yours?

Music of the year
By Sebastian Mendoza, Katlyn albert, Sha'kiya cook
Music has been as old as humanity itself. Archaeologists have found prehistoric flutes made of bone and ivory dating back as far as 43,000 years, and it’s likely that many ancient musical styles have been preserved in traditions. Now after centuries from the past, music has been evolving ever since. Music has evolved by coming in different styles: rock, pop, hip hop, instrumental, country, rap, R&B, jazz, classic, dubstep, electronic, metal, punk, and Latin. To add some competition to the air, the Devils Daily wanted to see what the most popular music was this year.
The results shows that the most liked music by our students here at Great Falls High is R&B and Rock.
10th grader, Hannah McCormick, says she prefers Rock because "it's intense but beautiful at the same time. "I relate to most bands that are genre as metal core." Her favorite artist is a band Motionless in white.
Senior, Ariyon Gaither says she "loves R&B because she can relate to it." Her favorite singer is Monica and her favorite song is "Needed Me" by Rihanna.
There are many music genres all around, but the top three chosen were R&B, Rock, and Pop. Good choices Devils, way to get on the Devil Level.

Mother's Day History
By: Katlyn Rose Albert, Sha'Kiya Cook, Sebastian Mendoza
According to the article "Mother's Day: Founded" by Anna Jarvis on History online, "Mother’s Day is a holiday honoring motherhood that is observed in different forms throughout the world. The American incarnation of Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914. Jarvis would later denounce the holiday’s commercialization and spent the latter part of her life trying to remove it from the calendar. While dates and celebrations vary, Mother’s Day most commonly falls on the second Sunday in May and traditionally involves presenting mothers with flowers, cards and other gifts. Over time the Mothering Sunday tradition shifted into a more secular holiday, and children would present their mothers with flowers and other tokens of appreciation. This custom eventually faded in popularity before merging with the American Mother’s Day in the 1930s and 1940s."
The Devils Daily wanted to get the students opinion on how they feel about Mother's Day. Fellow journalist, Matthew Trent said he appreciates his mother for all of the hard work she has done for him. He plans to show appreciation to his mother by buying her jewelry, make her breakfast, spend the day with her and buy her a card. An anonymous student shared their opinion on how they feel on Mother's Day. "I feel like we shouldn't just celebrate our mothers on Mother's Day that we should do it every day. Moms do a lot of us and we never really take the time to thank them like we should. Not just our moms but our mother figures. The ladies or dads that have to play the mom role do a lot for us and we take them for granted. Mother's day is important!" We all love our mothers and appreciate them so much! Cherish your mothers, Devils because you only get one! |
U.S. paper money is getting a historic makeover
By Sebastian Mendoza/ photos by Katlyn Albert/editing by Sha'Kiya Cook
Things are really hitting off with the future of money now a days. Recently on April 25, 2016, it has been said that underground railroad leader Harriet Tubman will be the new face of the $20 bill by the year 2020.
One of the reasons that is said on Tween Tribune is that Andrew Jackson the nation's seventh president and slave owner will be moved on the back of the $20 bill.
It is also said that the $10 bill will be changed from Hamilton to Lucretia Mott, Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Alice Paul.
But that’s not all money fans. The Devils Daily wanted a few opinions. We asked local social studies teacher, Ms. Tammy Schofield, about who she thought should have been on the $20 bill and she replied, "I think Teddy Roosevelt because he made a way for America to live better, and that the teddy bear was named after him.
I guess the future is really improving.

Glee-Fever!

Your Netflix binge of the Week is Glee!
When a High School Spanish teacher becomes the new glee coach, he takes on a group of very different but talented students. A group of determined teens try to escape the harsh realities of High School by joining the glee club, where they find strength, acceptance, and especially their voice. Several of the students struggle with finding who they are. They are bullied every day for their sexuality, looks, and especially for being part of the glee club.
The show helped teens all around the world. Encouraging them to be a part of the arts in their school. The show included characters of the LGBT community, people of color, and characters with physical or mental disabilities. Glee showed teens all around the world that it’s okay to be yourself. To never let what other people say change who you are. To always follow your dreams no matter what other people may think of you.
Sophomore, Isabella Davis, said she liked Netflix because, "It's very convenient. You can watch anything anywhere. And it has a variety of shows."
When Sophomore, Alissia Blackmon, was asked why she watched the show she said, “It’s an uplifting show, it’s really hard not to watch it. It sends a strong message to us teens.” Of course Ms. Blackmon can relate, she never lets what others say get to her. She also said, “I’d definitely recommend the show to others.”
Go check out Glee. And always remember to be yourself no matter what!

Put a Ring on it!
Writer:: Brittney Sweat Photo/Videos by: Geni Camp Editing: Hannah McCormick
There are many traditions that all high schools share, including class rings. Just this past week, our up-coming juniors purchased their class rings, but what's the purpose?
Underclassman do not understand the value of a class ring. Actually, a lot of people do not understand the concept. My news group was determined to figure out what is so special. Just by reading a couple of emails, we soon realized how special it really is. "It's a way of remembering my classmates and all the memories we have shared together", said Sunny Humphries, an upcoming senior. "I would advise students to get a class ring because it symbolizes your accomplishments", said Ms. Mann. Even though we received a lot of feedback on the topic, some people did not agree. "I did not purchase a class ring because the cost is too much", said Tierra Lynn, a graduating senior. Which is not a bad excuse, considering all the things seniors have to pay for it. Ms. Lynn later stated, "There's no use in me having a class ring because I don't wear rings." There are some reasonable reasons into getting a class ring and not to get one. Ultimately, the decision is yours. |
Remember Prince
Writer: Hannah McCormick Photos/Video: Geni Camp Editor: Brittney Sweat - April 22, 2016
Prince Rogers Nelson, known as Prince, was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, recording producer, and actor. He was born on June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN. Prince had a magnificent career. He has won seven Grammy Awards, and has earned thirty nominations. Five of his singles have topped the charts and fourteen other songs hit the top ten.
In 1978 his debut album, “For You,” was released by Warner Bros. He played all the instruments on the LP and produced it himself. That made him, at nineteen years old, the youngest record producer in the history of Warner Bros. at the time. Throughout the years Prince won several Grammy’s and several of his songs topped the charts. Sadly Prince passed away on April 21, 2016. The 57 year old was found unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The paramedics tried to perform CPR but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at 10:07a.m. that morning. The autopsy will be performed today, April 22, 2016, but it could still take several days to weeks to get a direct cause of death due to tests. According to CNN News, when word of his death let out, fans rushed to record stores to pick up albums and other Prince memorabilia. Some of the fans said the icons death, “is what it sounds like when doves cry,” it was a reference to his monster hit from 1984. When we asked our Spanish teacher, Mr. Artis, what his thoughts were when he first heard of Princes death, he had to take a deep breath before saying, "At first I thought it was a hoax, I knew that he was sick but I had no idea it was that serious. When I first got the news, I was honestly hurt, but I held it together for my class and when I got home, I jammed out to a few of his tunes. It was a true lost to the music industry." U.S. President Barack Obama said in a statement to an CNN reporter, “As one of the most gifted and prolific musicians of our time, Prince did it all. Funk, R&B, Rock and roll. He was a virtuoso instrumentalist, a brilliant bandleader and an electrifying performer.” The world decided to go purple to remember Prince. In Downtown Los Angeles, City Hall was lighted up in purple Thursday night. It seems as if Princes death has affected people all around the globe. R.I.P Prince |

Spring into Style!
Story by: Camryn Patterson- Editing and photos by: Breanna Hunter and Lydia Mills- Great Falls High- April 15th, 2016
This week, the Devils Daily set out to find out the most popular spring trends this 2016! It was found out that everyone has a different idea of 'spring trends'. What's yours?
Most of our lady red devils wore beautiful dresses or leggings with vibrant colors and jean jackets are loved by all! Male students leaned more toward cargo shorts or basketball shorts and polo's. Sandals and flip-flops are very trendy around this time of the year with the ladies, slides and Sperry's are popular with the guys. Longer hanging necklaces, dangling earrings, are everywhere this spring. Some girls even have phone cases to match the season- flowers, the beach, and bright colors! Kaylee Allen, Great Falls ninth grader said, "I love my shorts, but school dresses and leggings will work." Everyone has their own style, get out there and express it Devils! |
Nailed it!
Story by: Lydia Mills- Photos and Editing by: Camryn Patterson and Breanna Hunter- Great Falls High School- April 13, 2016
On April 12, the Devils Daily went around Great Falls High School and took pictures of female students' acrylic nails. Acrylic nails have become a popular trend.
According to, Nail Polish Facts and Yelp, acrylic nails were invented by a dentist in 1978, but nail polish originated in China around 3000 BC. In Ancient Egypt, nail polish signified class rankings such as, the lower class wore nude colors, and high class had red nail polish. Some people like acrylic nails because their own nails are thin and want something harder on their nails. They also might be insecure about their nails. The Devils Daily took pictures of Sumer Hinson, Kacie Broome, Bailey Adams, Emilee Smarr, Aryion Gaither, and Donaesh'ah Adams to show off their cute nails and model why the trend is so popular. How do you like your nails red devils? |

The second challenge was the zoom challenge, where objects were zoomed in and the participates had to name the object. The winner was Cook. Good job for guessing them all correct! The last challenge was the walk challenge, which was to sing the alphabet with your eyes closed while walking in the straightest line possible. The winner was Gaither. Good job, girly! |
The beauty of a compliment
Story by: Camryn Patterson- Editing and photos by: Lydia Mills and Breanna Hunter- Great Falls High School, April 6th, 2016
On April 5th, 2016 the Devils Daily set out to seek the true meaning of "the beauty of a compliment'. Some Red Devil staff and students had their pictures taken before and after and in between pictures a compliment was given to get their reactions.
Business teacher, Randy Worthy, 9th graders Sumer Hinson, Alexis Miller and 10th grader Matthew Trent were the select few that participated in the study of "the beauty of a compliment." Each person in the group reacted differently than the next. Whether they laughed, smiled, or blushed at the compliments they were very happy and a new boost of confidence was given to them. Middle school teacher, Catherine Davies, held a group last year with the 8th grade females about self-confidence. Davies said, "We talked about self-esteem and why you should be confident, it also helped connect teachers to peers." Breanna Hunter, current 9th grader tells how it affected her and her peers, "I feel that it helped us girls like ourselves for who we are and it gave us a bit of self-confidence." Giving one compliment a day to a stranger or your best friend could give them the healthy dose of confidence they need, so let's get to it devils! |

Joke time!
Writing by Hannah McCormick - Video by Matthew Trent & Editing by Dixie Roberts. March 11, 2016
This week the Devils Daily decided to lighten up everyone's day. Everyone needs to laugh, especially if they're having a bad day. They were hoping to cheer up their fellow students. Everyone needs to lighten up and have some fun every now and then.
The main purpose of this is to give everyone something to laugh about. Our students need to smile and laugh during the school day. Don't stress yourself out about the little things. Just tell a small joke, make your friends laugh. Maybe even a stranger. Our photographer, Matthew Trent, went around and surprised a few students with a joke or two. The results were fun, some were annoyed and others didn't mind. I know Mathew had fun making this video, but I don't know about everyone who was in it. |
Netflix Binge of the Week
Writing by Matthew Trent - Photos and editing by Dixie Roberts & Hannah McCormick - March 9, 2016
When it comes to Netflix, everybody has that area covered! Binge watching shows on Netflix takes a special set of skills. Time, dedication, and a whole lot of LAZINESS… This week, Devils Daily wanted to know if people binge-watch Grey's Anatomy. The medical drama series focuses on a group of doctors at a hospital in Seattle, Washington, including several who began their careers at the hospital as interns. One of the doctors and the show's leading star, Meredith Grey, is the daughter of a famous surgeon. She struggles to maintain relationships with her colleagues at the hospital. Devils Daily interviewed some teachers and students on if they like the show and what they like about it. Teacher, Dewana Nealy said, "It's not my favorite show because I don’t like to know what's going on inside my body." Freshman's Justin Kolasz and Alyssa Wise said, "Yes, we like the concept of the show and binge-watch it." Kolasz said, "It is always interesting and they have something new for each episode." Sophomore, Gage Spinks said, "No I haven't watched, but I think people like it because it keeps them entertained." Spinks also said, "I won't ever watch it!" Red Devils join in and watch what everyone is talking about! |
Who's the best dancer at GFHS?
By Sha'Kiya Cook, Katlyn Albert, and Emilee Smarr, Great Falls High School, March 4th, 2016
All week long sophomore, Matthew Trent, has been showing off his dance skills in the courtyard during lunch. Trent challenged Student Council President, Brandon Christopher, to a dance- off to prove that he is the best dancer on campus. The two argued and argued and the feud was finally settled on Thursday. The competitors battled it out and senior, Ariyon Gaither, and junior, Deandre' Green, joined in on the fun as well. The dance battle was filled with so much emotion and laughter but only one person could win….
After completing a survey by the Devils Daily staff, Red Devil students shared their opinions on who they thought was the best. The results showed that Deandre' Green is the best dancer at Great Falls High School.
Some students weren’t able to see the battle, but were asked if they knew of any other people that attend GFHS with a hidden talent that could beat any of the aforementioned four competitors in a dance-off. The polls showed that Raheem Bowers, Katlyn Albert and Tyrek Hoover all keep a secret pair of dancing shoes in their closets.
Whenever you see any of these fine young students, make sure you ask them to show you a few dance moves. Congrats Deandre' and Matthew, and thanks for always getting on the Devil Level!

WAYS TO SAVE ON ENTERTAINMENT
By Sha'Kiya Cook, Katlyn Albert, and Emilee Smarr, Great Falls High School, February 25, 2016.
Being entertained doesn’t always mean spending money or going out away from your home. So much free entertainment is available online that you hardly need to leave the house.
You can enjoy a movie without the pain of paying high- priced tickets at movie theaters. Ariyon Gaither, a senior commented that "whenever she goes out to the movies she uses a reward card to save money every trip she takes to the movie theatre."
She also watches videos on YouTube and sits around town with friends. Junior, Brandi Wilcox, shared with us that instead of going to the movies and spending $11 dollars for one movie , she watches Netflix and pays $7 for a month worth of movies.
Reading is also a great way to be entertained. To avoid trips to the library, you can download free books. Many apps such as World Reader doesn't require any fees or registration. Gaither also told the Devils Daily staff that she reads books to her younger cousins.
There are many apps that could keep you entertained throughout the day such as Snapchat, Facebook, and Twitter.
Entertainment is not always about electronics, but can also be exercise. Basketball is a great way to entertain yourself and have fun with your friends. Instead of staying in the house, you can be entertained by going outside.
Remember having fun doesn’t always mean blowing up your bank account!

Ke$sha fights to get released from record label
By: Emilee Smarr, Katlyn Albert, and Sha'Kiya Cook, Great Falls High School, February 24th, 2016
On February 19th, 2016, pop singer, Ke$ha, was denied release from her contract at her record label, Sony, after requesting preliminary injunction due to allegedly being raped by her producer, Dr. Luke.
The fact that Ke$ha was not allowed to leave her record label upset millions of people. Not only Ke$ha's fans, or "animals", are upset, but celebrities and fellow musicians are as well, on top of hundreds of thousands of rape and abuse victims. Overwhelmed with emotional support, Ke$ha vows not to stop, knowing this is a battle far more people than just herself face. In the United States, 63% of sexual assaults go unreported to the police, making rape the most under-reported crime of them all (National Sexual Violence Resource Center). The National Sexual Violence Resource Center also noted that 9% of rape and sexual assault victims are male, while the other 91% of victims are female. Within their lives, one in five women and one in 71 men will be victims of rape (National Sexual Violence Resource Center). Every Red Devil has a feeling of nostalgia when he or she hears the song "Tik Tok." Come on, you either love it or hate it, but you still listen to it. Regardless of his or her opinion, every student has a good idea of who Ke$ha is and also has a standing on the moral issue of rape itself. Here's the Red Devils' take on the situation at hand. <----------------------------------------------- |

Wacky weather
Story by: Sebastian Mendoza/Editing: Kayla Pettit/Pictures by: Brittney Sweat - February 17, 2016
It's been a crazy few days since we've discovered that spring will be coming early. Is that really why the weather has been crazy?
Basically, the weather has been changing every day. Monday was a cold, windy day with rain that froze the roads with just a single drop. Then today, it was a beautiful sunny day. Most people don't know why the weather has been out of the ordinary lately, but some people, like freshman, Alyssa Wise, believe that "mother nature is [just] doing her job." Though this is slightly true, the real reason, according to 1st Sgt. Clarence Greeno, is El Niño and El Niña. Climate. Gov says, "El Niño and El Niña are the warm and cool phases of a recurring climate pattern across the tropical pacific that can shift back and forth irregularly every two or seven years, and each phase triggers predictable disruptions of temperature, precipitations, and winds." According to Jon Erdman and Chris Dolce, "Citing the latest model guidance, NOAA/CPC( National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/Climate Prediction Center) said Thursday is El Niño, as it typically does, will continue to weaken through the spring, eventually disappearing by late spring or early summer." Some made predictions about what this weather holds for us in the future. 1st Sgt. Greeno said, "Maybe because we're having back to back El Niño, and that maybe were going to have a hotter summer and dryer summer. And that California will have a cooler and rainier summer while the mid-section of the United States will have extreme drought." |
Single VS. Relationships on Valentine's Day
Story by: Brittney Sweat - Editing and Photos by: Kayla Pettit and Sam Mendoza
Do you have trouble figuring out what to do for Valentine's Day or need help making this day special? Well I am here to make all your problems go away.. Hopefully.
Just because you're single on Valentine's Day, does not mean you can't have fun! Get dressed up and go out to eat with your friends. You could even rent some movies, buy a whole bunch of junk food, and invite friends to come over. You could also to the mall or movies. Don’t be hidden away in your room, waiting for the day to be over!
To my couples, make sure this day is the best day for your girl. Take her out to eat at her favorite restaurant, buy her flowers, or give her a poem representing how much you like her. Some girls like the big flashy things and some like simple things; it just depends on what your girl likes and only you know that. To be honest, it doesn't matter where you go or what you do, as long as you two are together.
This day is for spending time with the people you love. Whether that be your boyfriend or girlfriend, mom and dad or friends. As long as you're around people that you love, that’s all that matters.
The key is to be around those who make you happy.

This day is for spending time with the people you love. Whether that be your boyfriend or girlfriend, mom and dad or friends. As long as you're around people that you love, that’s all that matters.
The key is to be around those who make you happy.
A day of love

Most people celebrate Valentine's Day, but do they really know how it came about?
There are many different stories but according to History online, Valentine was a priest who served during the 3rd century in Rome. Emperor Claudius ll said that single men were better soldiers, than those who have families and a wife. Claudius told the soldiers they could no longer get married, but Valentine went against him and continued to marry lovers in secret. When Claudius found out, he sentenced Valentine to be put to death. While he was incarcerated, he wrote his lover letters and signed "love your Valentine."
Knowing the history, do you think Valentine's Day is over rated? Some People agreed and disagreed.
Sarah Reeves said, "No because, it is something special," while Travis Payne agreed saying, "Yes because, it is something you can do every day."
Fellow journalist, Brittney Sweat disagreed saying, "No I don’t because not enough people have that special someone to spend it with."
Many people have a different outlook on what the meaning of Valentine's Day is. Aubrey Rowels said, "It is showing someone you appreciate them," while Reeves said, " Spending time with the person you love."
Sweat later said, "Spending time with the person you love or care about," as well.
So do you have that special someone this Valentine's Day?

Hey you guys! It's that time of year again, SUPER BOWL!
Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos will go head to head and try to win the Super Bowl 50, one of the biggest games in history!
Since this is one of the biggest events of the year, we want to give you some advice and some comments on what others will be doing and eating this super bowl.
Some people will be going out to celebrate while others will stay at home and spend the super bowl with their families.
1st Sergeant Clarence Greeno said, "I'll be staying at home watching the super bowl, eating my Peyton Manning free super bowl pizza, and waiting for Monday so I can get my $3.99 Krispy Kreme Doughnuts because the panthers will win!"
Ms. Minter then said, "I'm going to be at Bo-Jangles cooking chicken."
People usually have all kinds of junk food and snacks at a super bowl party. Wings, chips with dip, cupcakes, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, etc. First Sergeant Greeno said, "I don't have super bowl parties, but if I was to have one I'd definitely have wings and fig 'newtons'."
Devin Banks closed by saying, "We're are going to have bacon wrapped chicken."
What will you be doing for Super Bowl 50?

It's that time of the year when every football fan comes together to cheer on their favorite football team in the Super bowl.
This year will be the biggest and most memorable super bowl ever because this year is the 50th super bowl. Not only that, Peyton Manning, the quarterback for the Denver Broncos, is retiring after this football season.
To make things even more interesting, this is only the second time the Carolina Panthers have made it to the super bowl since February 2004. Unfortunately, the Panthers lost 29-32 to the New England Patriots according, to the National Football League's website.
Rumors are going around about how the game might be rigged to make the Broncos win since this is Manning's last year.
"No, I do not think that will happen," said Kenneth Schofield, retired football coach at Great Falls High. "It makes no sense for the Panthers to work that hard to be 14-1, make it to the super bowl, and say, 'Hey, we're going to lose'."
The majority vote says that the Panthers will win. Some even predicted the score. "I think the final score will be 45- 17," said First Sergeant Greeno. "I believe the score will be 31-14," said Schofield.
All we can do now is wait and watch the two teams go head-to-head.

On Wednesday, January 27, 2016, The Devils Daily went around to interview a few students and even, grandparents at home on what they used to do or what they do now for fun during their high school years. The Devils Daily wanted to see the differences between the young and old.
Some of the people answered the questions the same others didn’t. Students were asked about their favorite foods, favorite things to do in school, the type of music they listen to, favorite out of school activity, and what they like to do for fun.
Our Devils said they like hanging out with friends, watching TV, and teasing their friends. The elders said they hung out with friends, played different types of sports, and texted for fun.
Our results were surprisingly different from what you might have thought. The students told us that their favorite school activity was JROTC, sports, and 3D printing. Our elders said their favorite in school activity used to be sports, being on different committees for school, and clubs.
Students said their favorite music to listen to is country, pop, KPOP, and hits. Elders said their favorite music was classic rock, rap, and pop – Michael Jackson - Thriller anyone?
The students said their favorite out of school activities are baseball, sleeping, listening to music, and exercising. Elders said their favorite out of school activity was going out with friends (movies), football games, and reading.
Lastly, the most important part- the food. Students said their favorite food is, chicken, pizza, cake, and tacos. Elders said that their favorite foods were deserts, pizza, and pasta.
Gerry Barnette said, “My favorite thing to do for fun was ice skating because it was cold.” What do you do for fun?

Fashion frenzies

On January 26, 2016, a group of Red Devils were interviewed about how they stay fashionable and warm during the winter. Most of their answers were similar.
What would be one thing you would keep warm during the winter? Students said they would like to keep their hands and all of their body warm, while others said upper and lower body, nose, and feet.
The students said their warmest articles of clothing would have to be a warm jacket, socks, and boots.
Red Devil students said they would rather be fashionable and warm, rather than just warm. By being fashionable and warm, students agreed they wear cute outfits even though it is cold outside.
According to your fellow students, the easiest way to stay warm and fashionable is to wear boots with warm socks, long sleeve shirts or sweaters. Just keeping it simple.
Freshman, Kacie Broome, noted that she likes to be herself when she dresses for the cold weather. Some good advice for working with clothes and this winter.

Ride Along 2 or The Boy: You Decide
Story by: Camryn Patterson - Photos and editing by: Lydia Mills and Dixie Roberts - Great Falls High - January 25, 2015
120 red devil students were asked if they preferred Ride Along 2 over The Boy, both new movies. The results were surprising, and very close together. 50.8% preferred Ride Along 2 and 49.2% chose The Boy.
The results showed us more people would rather watch a comedy over a scary movie.
Ninth grade English teacher, Ms. Chelsea Bergmann, thought the movie was, “extremely funny. Kevin Hart did not disappoint and I was laughing the whole time. Hart has this funny way of making simple things into hilarious situations.”
The biggest thing that disappointed her was that “the bad guy was really attractive, but he died.” Sorry, spoiler alert!
Other Reviews for the movie were “it was funny and a good movie,” “the movie was better than expected,” and “nothing was surprising.”
The Boy was released in theaters January 22, 2016. The Bottom Line reviewed the movie saying, “Like its title character, the film only sporadically comes to life.” In other words things happened at irregular times.

New, New Year’s resolutions
By: Camryn Patterson, Dixie Roberts, and Lydia Mills - Great Falls High - January 20, 2016
On Wednesday, January 20, Carol Horton, Antonio Artis, and a few more of your fellow red devil students were interviewed about their 2016 New Year’s resolutions.
Many of the New Year’s resolutions answers were similar, people wanted to lose weight, be physically active, make better grades, and make more money. Many of the students said, no, they haven’t followed through with their New Year’s resolutions.
Students at Great Falls high school said they chose their resolutions because they want more money, they want better grades, and to lose weight. Most also said that they didn’t want to do anything to achieve their resolutions, but wanted them to happen. Now how can that work?
Mr. Antionio Artis’ New Years resolution was “to not be fat.” Plain and simple. Artis believes he was fat and has stuck to his resolution by eating healthy.
Freshman Carol Horton’s resolution was to be around people more often and to open up more. Carol planned this resolution out because she feels she has very poor social skills. Horton said about doing better and why she wants to change, “ A little bit, the way people act just sets me off.”
Make sure you have set a New Year’s resolution for 2016. Try to remember to follow through!
